Recipe ingredients
- 500g pack Ta-Da! Chocolate Cake Mix
- 240ml water
- 425g can black cherries in syrup
- 135ml vegetable oil
- 250ml double cream
- 1 tbsp Kirsch (optional)
- 150g Ta-Da! Dark Cherry Fruit Filling
- 15g plain chocolate, grated
Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Measuring jug
- 2x 20cm tins
- Preheated 180°C, gas mark 4
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4. Grease and line 2 x 20cm round cake tins.
Step 2
Place the cake mix in a large bowl. Drain the can of cherries, reserving the syrup and make the syrup up to 240ml with water.
Step 3
Add this to the cake mix with the oil to form a smooth batter. Divide evenly between the 2 cake tins and bake for 22-24 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from the tin and allow to cool completely.
Step 4
Whisk the cream to soft peaks then whisk in the Kirsch, if using. Place 1 cake upside down on a board or platter and spread over half of the cream, spoon over the Ta-Da! Dark Cherry Fruit Filling. Top with the other cake and spread the remaining cream on top.
Step 5
Top with the reserved cherries and sprinkle over the grated chocolate.
