Hot Cross Buns

Our White Bread Mix makes it even easier to make these family favourites - hot cross buns. A classic recipe that can be enjoyed all year round.
Recipe ingredients
- 500g pack Ta-Da! White Bread Mix
- 300ml water
- 1½ tsp mixed spice
- 25g candid peel
- 3 tbsp runny honey
- 150g mixed fruit
- 50g plain flour
Equipment
- 1 Large mixing bowl
- Large baking tray
- Measuring jug
- Preheated oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
Step 1
Place the bread mix in a large bowl and stir in the mixed spice and candid peel. Place 2 tbsp honey in a jug and make up to 300ml with water, stir into the mix.
Step 2
Knead in a mixer fitted with a dough hook or by hand for 5 minutes until smooth. Stir in the mixed fruit evenly.
Step 3
On a lightly floured surface, divide the dough into 8 and roll into balls.
Step 4
Place on a large baking tray lined with baking parchment. Cover with clingfilm and leave in a warm place for about 1 hour or until risen in size.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
Step 6
Blend the flour in a small bowl with 3-4 tbsp water to form a paste. Place in a piping bag or plastic food bag with 1/2 cm snipped off the end, pipe a cross over each bun.
Step 7
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Brush with the remaining honey and allow to cool slightly.
