Chocolate Birthday Cake

The ultimate show stopper for any birthday bash! Made with Ta-Da! Chocolate Cake Mix and deliciously finished with Chocolate Ganache Style Icing.
Recipe ingredients
- 800g Ta-Da! Chocolate Cake Mix
- 400ml water
- 200ml Vegetable oil
- 370g Ta-Da! Chocolate Ganache Style Icing
- 75g Baking margarine/butter
- 100g Coloured sprinkles
Equipment
- 1 Large mixing bowl
- Measuring jug
- 2 x 20cm cake tins (use deep tin)
- Preheated oven to 180°C, gas mark 4
- Piping bag with star nozzle
- Pallet knife
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4. Grease and base line 2 x 20cm deep round cake tins.
Step 2
Place the chocolate cake mix into a bowl and add the water and oil. Using a large spoon, mix until a smooth batter is formed.
Step 3
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tins and bake for 40 - 45 minutes. Allow to cool.
Step 4
Place the chocolate icing and the margarine or butter into a bowl, using a large spoon, beat until a smooth cream is formed.
Step 5
Spread approx. 200g of chocolate cream onto one sponge and then place the other sponge on top. Using a pallet knife, coat the entire cake with another 200g of the chocolate cream.
Step 6
Using the remaining chocolate cream in a piping bag fitted with a nozzle, pipe some star shapes on the top of the cake, decorate with the coloured sprinkles making sure to have a heavier covering towards the bottom of the cake to finish.
